Premature deaths like Mark's always remind me of a quote from F. Scott
Fitzgerald:

Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after
he is dead.

Subject: [1969] Mark's Funeral

Mark Ellis was laid to rest Friday in the family plot in Valley Forge State
Park/Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetary. The dreary weather did not deter
family and friends from paying their respects. Mel Herwald and I
represented some of the many Corvair friends Mark had made in his past ten
years in Virginia. I wish we could have driven up in my 65 corsa 'vert in
which Mark and I had so many adventures, but the long distance and lousy
weather discouraged me. The Philadephia club that was such a big part of
Mark's life in the 70's and 80's, was well-represented. CPCC was also
represented. (Sorry if I left out someone...) Three Corvairs were on
hand:a Rampside, a 65 vert, and a 65 coupe.
CORSA, the Corvair, and many of us have lost one of the best friends we've
ever had.
David Robertson
