Ken, I wish you could have fit the job into your schedule, you would have done a great job. Thinking out of the box here. What about having a committee of lets say 4 or 5 people that handled the task together. This could lesson the load on any one person. We seem to have several that have offered to help in some way. this could be that way. Sort of an advisory board. Any thoughts out there? And any comments on the 4 or 6 Communiques a year. Hi All,

A big thanks to Dave, Sarah and others who have nominated me for president of the 69'er group, but I must decline. As Bob has noted, this job should be for someone who has the time and really wants to do it or it won't get done properly. I love Corvairs, especially '69's and it is a great honor to me to be nominated, especially by people for whom I have so much respect. Although I am approaching retirement age, I will still be working full time for the foreseeable future with a fast growing company that is demanding more and more of my time. Between work, church and just keeping my Corvairs running, there is rarely time for anything else.

I think we have a strong core group of volunteers here in the 69'er group that we can choose from, including Craig Griffin whose earlier post I missed. I think Wade Lanning is another excellent choice.

I would be happy to support the 69'er group with dues and/or advice and I will continue to support CORSA, as I have since I joined in 1969.

Thanks again for the honor of the nomination.

Ken Maxwell

Thanks Ken.

Wade and I are in touch with Eve often and can work with her. She's been filing all the sightings and reports of new '69s and there have been a bunch since '07.

I'd like to nominate you as President, Ken. You're a great organizer and I think you've already started to get us on the right track. You have a a lot of experience with Corvair history and I think you'd have an excellent perception of what's important to the '69 cause.

I hope you go for it!
Dave

OK. Let's see if I can recap the recent flurry of e-mails regarding the
semi-defunct 69'er group.

Ed Thompson reports that there should be about $250 left in our treasury.

Marvin Crook (last president) listed all of the previous officers.

John Wingle has volunteered to be our new treasurer.

The following people have said that they would help in one form or another:

Bob Dunahugh
Jim Burtasevich
Steve Brown
Bryan Blackwell

We also have had excellent input from "Mr.Corvair" Dave Newell.

Craig Griffin has been nominated for president but I haven't seen a post
from him.

I am sure that I have missed others who have offered to help or volunteered
information.

The question is where do we go from here?

I think an on-line election of officers would be in order.

Eve Ellis needs to be contacted to find out what she would be willing to do
and what information she would be willing to share.

The last mailing list needs to be retrieved and used to ask for advice and
dues.

To get the ball rolling, I would like to nominate Bob Dunahugh as President,
Steve Brown as Vice-President and Jim Wingle as Treasurer, Dave Newell as
Historian and Eve Ellis as "Keeper of the VIN's". We still need someone to
volunteer to do a newsletter, either paper or electronic and keep the
mailing list.

We need to set annual dues and get a workable amount in our treasury.

I think that this is the least that we can do to remain an active and viable
CORSA chapter and group.

What does everyone else think?

Thanks Bob, I've been a treasurer in the past for the local chapter of
CORSA, Bay State Corvairs. I'd be happy to do it for the 69 Group as well if
needed.

John

I've been put in a similar situation as Ed. Seems simple. Should be, didn't
stay that way. It gets really complicated when you didn't want to do it in
the first place. Hopefully a treasurer will be needed. John, I understand
your thought, but I've been were Ed ended up. Not fun. Like I said, we may
need a treasurer, can you fill that position ? Bob Dunahugh

Ken Amick; per my "deal" w/ Marvin, I did not make any attempt to keep that
data. Some checks came in as late as around June of '09, which I never
deposited, and I do not know where they are now, but whoever wrote them need
not be concerned, they will ever be negotiated. I don't know how much I
collected, but am pretty sure it was around $750, or $850 tops. I wrote and
sent reimbursement checks to Ken for the two issues he produced and mailed,
as well as a check to a North Carolina trophy shop at the request of Scott
Good, for trophies awarded at the '09 Convention in Jacksonville (for
special '69 model judging that year), which I attended. The final check I
wrote was to Wade Lanning for his costs in producing and mailing (what I
believe was) the last '69 newsletter, about a year ago, or early this year.

> So, how much is left, I don't know? Remember, I never wanted the job, and
accepted the position, "kicking and screaming," so to speak. I'm fairly
sure the "balance" is less than $250. Unless a convincing "argument" is
made otherwise, I will make a donation in that amount to the CPF by the end
of the year, and advise the group when I have done so.
>
> I dread thinking of the e-mail traffic on this subject that will likely
follow, please be gentle, Mark, and Eve, would want it that way. I will
make no more than one or two further posts to the list on this matter. Do
not send address or any other update info to me; like many of you, I'm sure,
I'm on constant e-mail overload.
