[1969] Are we (the '69 Vair enthusiast group) still functioning?

You're absolutely right. Of course, CORSA has never been good at thinking
outside the box. Take the Air 'Vair Group for example. We're basically a
technical self-help group, and our lifeblood is the annual meeting/tech
session at the convention. There's usually not much that can be written on
a/c, as it's pretty much all been said. So a newsletter can go only so far.
Certainly not enough to support and sustain a quarterly newsletter. We are
actually a big asset to CORSA members, even if the board doesn't have a
clue. We'd be happy just to have an hour and a half on the Convention
schedule for our tech session, and be done with it. But they once tried to
kill us off by denying us that allotted time. CORSA's then president (and
resident idiot at the time) and I quite literally all but came to a
knock-down, drag-out physical slugfest over it, but Sarah literally had to
step in between us. So help me, I wouldn't have hesitated in belting him,
and without any regrets. And I don't mind saying so. Thank you, Sarah. Thus
we were forced into becoming a by-the-book chapter, with all the BS that
brings.

What CORSA needs is to rewrite the "Chapter Plan" so that CORSA can make
allowances for non-traditional groups that just don't fit the existing
rules, and to give them the leeway they need in forming, meeting, and
functioning in whatever manner works best for their group, the "Chapter
Plan" not withstanding. Let's face it, there is nothing wrong with the
unconventional. You'd think that a club founded around the most
unconventional high-volume American car built in the last century would know
that.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but technically speaking, I think every
chapter / Special Interest Group for CORSA is supposed to put out a
newsletter a few times per year, to show evidence of being alive and
providing some sort of service to members. That rule was designed before
there was email or Facebook, so maybe it's time to revise the rule.

Just sayin'.

Happy Holidays,

The group isn't dead, but it's not the same group as it has been in the
hey-day years of CORSA. We have on the order of 200 members on our Group's
Facebook page and because of it, we have been able to continue to grow our
1969 vehicle roster. Like it or not, there have been less than a handful of
messages on this email forum for the past couple of years. In fact, as far
as I can recall, this is about the only meaningful exchange we've had for at
least two years on this forum. Most of our member interactions over the past
couple of years are on Facebook because that's where they want to interact.
We are not putting any more effort into that than this; it's just grown on
it's own. Dave, John, and Jim have kept up our membership files and rosters,
and tried to put together a newsletter with close to zero contributions
from our members. As much as a few members say they want a newsletter,
there's no significant action behind that expressed desire. It's no one's
fault - it's the way things are. We can lament it, but we aren't going to
change it either. Want a newsletter? How about sending in an article or
news?
Want a gathering at the convention? How about volunteering to organize it?
