Tim,

I read your email search for a new Model Concours Chairperson..... After all the years I have been associated with Corvair Models & Toys I would like to offer myself as the possible new MCC.
For those in the Chapters email list here is a short info on myself. I write the annual Corvairs In Print articles/update list for the Communique. Also many past articles on collectibles/records/music/post cards/Models & Toys. There should be a Model & Toy article in the December Communique I wrote. And future articles for the Communiques.
My model & toy history dates back many, many years. Not only the collection I have, but models that have been built for Conventions and other Corvair model shows. Just a little history on model rules. When the Williamsburg, Va, Convention was held Wade Lanning contacted me about Model Concours rules, as he was the Model Chairperson for the event. At that time there was no rules adopted for any Corsa Conventions, no rule books, anything. Just before that, I attempted to write a set of rules/classes/ages/etc. for possible use at Conventions and get the Directors approval to make them official. I sent Wade my rules draft and they used them for the Convention that year. Which I was there and participated in.
Later I sent the written rules format to all the Corsa Directors and they eventually approved them. They also established the Model Concours Chairperson as a new Committee Chair. I was asked to be the first Chairperson when Ward Bourgondien (Eastern Director at that time) called and told me. I was thrilled, but due to complications at that time I had to decline. Just as I was asked a few times for consideration to run for the Eastern Director position. My problem at that time was the travelling to Conventions, meetings, etc. This also prompted me to turn down the Model Concours Chair. also.
My problem now is not getting to long distance Conventions. But if you accept my offer to be the MCC I feel I can handle the task. In the past years Conventions I have helped or offered to help other Convention Model Chairs help with Models/Classes/Rules/Ages/etc. I have helped with Judging, judging information; Corsa's current Model Concours rules/book is my original written draft. The rules may still need fine tuned, and that is no problem. Some Conventions have a big amount of entries in the MCC, some don't. But, this is a catagory of Convention events that is fun, and for all ages and family oriented. Just as all the other events held each year.
 Let me know what think.
