In 1979 the 'mandatory' CORSA membership to local club members was brought to light. RMC here in Denver solved the problem then, if you join RMC local you must join CORSA period. The rule still is in the constitution and bylaws of the club.
The clubs back then were following suit for the most part because of needing insurance for moving events. If you want to blame CORSA for something Ned blame them for rescinding the need because another insurance carrier came into the picture. When the 'mandatory' rule was lifted (1982 or so) many clubs reverted to choice of belonging to CORSA and local members no longer were under pressure to join CORSA.
Enough of this, sorry everyone for making the first reply about Orlando.
Happy holidays to all, Steve

Derby has about 10000 people, a few less than Orlando. MCCA, the Wichita chapter, has about 50 members and I bet only 10 are CORSA members. And yes that is sad, very sad, CORSA should do something about that, but they won't.-----Original Message-----From: Sethracer To: aeroned ; chapters Sent: Wed, Dec 2, 2015 8:30 pmSubject: Re: Chapter fees and reportsI looked in the Corsa Roster and found only one Corsa Member in Derby, KS. Someone named Mark Welte! Only one Corvair owner in that area? How sad. Corsa should do something about that! How can that situation be changed? - Seth In a message dated 12/2/2015 2:47:28 P.M. CORSA should be asking itself why and how can that situation be changed.Ned-----Original Message-----From: rearengine.steve at att.net via Chapters To: chapters ; sarahvair ; bryan Sent: Wed, Dec 2, 2015 9:29 amSubject: Re: Chapter fees and reports Ned: looking at my CORSA roster (2013) I show only one CORSA member in Orlando, George Jones. Too bad CORSA doesn't have anyone in charge to keep the current chapter list current.Yet another disappointment in CORSA.I can't believe that the Orlando area doesn't have a chapter. How is that possible? Are there no Corvairs in Orlando? Very sad situation. We continue to plug away at getting the new Chapter fees collected, thanks very much to the Chapters who have paid. This also is helping us get up to date on contacts, in many cases CORSA wasn't updated with new addresses so this is a slow proces s. As of mid-November, we are up to 78 Chapters paid out of 122 according to Paul Sergeant, who is keeping track.> > > > I realize there are quite likely some checks in the mail, but I wanted to send out the list of chapters that are still outstanding in their fees - we really want to get all of them up to date. If you are an officer of one of these clubs and can let the appropriate person know we're hoping to hear from them, we'd appreciate it. If you have sent in the form and check, please let Paul know so we can make sure it didn't get lost in the mail. I've cc'd Paul on this e-mail, feel free to forward to whomever needs to get it.> > > > Hope everyone has a good holiday season, and I hope to see many of you in 2016!> > > > --Bryan> > > > > > 19 Colonial Corvair Club> > 107 Resurrection Corvairs of Yonkers> > 148 Association of Corvair Nuts> > 236 Tidewater Corvair Club> > 240 Roanoke Valley Corvair Club> > 271 CORSA/N.C.> > 325 West Florida Corvair Club> > 328 Central Florida Corvair> > 333 South Florida Corvairs> > 336 Suncoast Corvairs> > 342 Gulfcoast Corvairs> > 347 Greater Orlando Corvair Assn.> > 371 Music City Corvair Club> > 379 Knoxville Area Corvair Club> > 405 Central Kentucky Corvair Enthusiasts> > 448 Vacationland Corvairs> > 454 Dayton Corvair Club> > 468 Mad Anthony Corvair Club> > 495 West Michigan Corvair Club> > 537 Capital City Corvair Club> > 558 Head of the Lakes Corvair Assn.> > 627 Prairie Capital Corvair Assn.> > 750 North Texas Corvair Association> > 782 Alamo City Corvair Association> > 799 Desert Corvair Club> > 809 Pikes Peak Corvair Club> > 850 Cactus Corvair Club> > 857 Tucson Corvair Association> > 917 Vintage CORSA> > 920 Coyote Corvair Club> > 947 San Francisco Bay Area CORSA> > 953 Central Valley Corvairs> > 958 Sacramento Corvair Tour Group> > 970 CORSA Oregon> > 975 Southern Oregon Corvair Owners> > FRA Chevrolet Cor vair Club of Paris> > NED Corvair Club Nederland> > SWI Swiss Corvair Club> > WCC Western Canada CORSA> > 3 Caveman Corvairs, The 1960 Group> > 8 UltraVan Motor Coach Club> > 9 SouthEast Corvair Council> > 11 Performance Corvair Group> > 13 Yenko Stinger Group> > > > Bryan Blackwell | Springfield, Va. | bryan at skiblack.com | http://autoxer.skiblack.com/>; > CORSA Eastern Div Director > > Corvairs: '62 700 Wagon, '64 Greenbrier, '65 Corsa, '66 Corsa> > '69 Road Runner, '99 Neon R/T, '00 Miata SE, '09 Ford F-150> > "Why do something if you're not going to obsess about it?"> > > > > > > > _______________________________________________> > Chapters mailing list> > Chapters at corvair.org> > http://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chapters>; > List use help, chapters-help at corvair.org_______________________________________________Chapters mailing listChapters at corvair.orghttp://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chaptersList use help, chapters-help at corvair.org_______________________________________________Chapters mailing listChapters at corvair.o rghttp://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chaptersList use help, chapters-help at corvair.org_______________________________________________Chapters mailing listChapters at corvair.orghttp://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chaptersList use help, chapters-help at corvair.org_______________________________________________Chapters mailing listChapters at corvair.orghttp://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chaptersList use help, chapters-help at corvair.org_______________________________________________Chapters mailing listChapters at corvair.orghttp://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chaptersList use help, chapters-help at corvair.org
