'Exciting Life of  John C. Fitch'
Center Conversation  on Saturday

Sports car racing legend, engineer  and innovator John Cooper Fitch will be 
the  subject of a Center Conversations talk May 6 at  the International 
Motor Racing Research  Center.

"The  Exciting Life of John C. Fitch" will be  presented at 1 p.m. by Fitch 
historian and  archivist Lawrence W. Berman, Fitch friend Bob  Sirna and 
motorsports author Carl  Goodwin.

Fitch's 1966 Corvair-based Phoenix  prototype is on display for the  talk.

Win  Tickets to the 2017 Indianapolis  500;
Drawing  Saturday at 1 p.m. at the  Center

The  Racing Research Center has been given three  tickets to the 2017 
Indianapolis 500 to raffle  as a bundle to raise operating  funds.

The  gift from the Rev. Michael and Susan Hartney of  Watkins Glen was made 
in memory of Michael H.  "Jack" Hartney, an Indy 500 fan who attended the  
1948 race, returning for more than 50  consecutive years beginning in 1960. 
Jack died  in December 2014.

The price per chance for  the three-ticket package is just $30. Only 500  
chances will be sold.

The  winning raffle ticket will be drawn at the  Center on Saturday, May 6, 
at 1 p.m. Tickets may  be purchased until 12:30 p.m. on  Saturday.

The Cadillac-Allard that Erwin Goldschmidt  drove to victory in the 1950 
Watkins Glen Grand  Prix was displayed at the New York International  Auto 
Show in an exhibit presented by the  Saratoga (N.Y.) Automobile Museum. The 
Racing  Research Center organized a successful bus trip  to the Auto Show on

Cameron  R. Argetsinger Award for Outstanding  Contributions to Motorsports 
Award Dinner  honoring Mario  Andretti.

Andretti will  receive the Argetsinger Award at a gala dinner  presented by 
NASCAR, International Speedway  Corp., Watkins Glen International and IMSA. 
The  dinner, which is open to the public, will be at  the internationally 
renowned Corning Museum of  Glass in nearby Corning, N.Y., on Aug.  31.

The dinner precedes the Verizon  IndyCar Grand Prix at The Glen weekend at  
WGI.

Bill  Green Speaking at Historical Society  Event

Center Historian Bill Green is speaking on  Wednesday, May 10, for the 
Dundee Historical  Society.

The event, which includes a chicken dinner,  will be at 5:30 p.m. at the 
Tyrone Fire Hall,  3600 Route 226, Tyrone, N.Y. Tickets are $16 for
