An air cooled rally coulds be a great publicity tool for Corvairs, shoulder to shoulder with Porsches and VWs. It wouldn't be hard to locate a Tatra (Czech rear engine 4 cyl. or V8) and a few NSUs (baby Corvairs) in N. Calif for some added fun. They're not as rare in the US as you might think :-)

This sounds very exciting and challenging.
I’d be love to give it a try. I’ll get my AAA memory set up before that.😎

Yes! We totally need to represent at the next air cooled event!
I subscribed to their site and hope to attend an event soon. Maybe Ray and I can get on the same one and feel it out. I like their disposition!

I see in the past there was an “air-cooled” rally… They mentioned Porshe but left Corvair out. I say we look for the next one and make a run at them with the air cooled chevy!

All-

Here's a link to the Breakfast Club Rally group I mentioned at our last meeting:

https://www.breakfastclubrally.com

I haven't done one of these yet, but they seem pretty cool, no uppity attitudes and welcome all cars without regards to condition. They even mention that the last rally they "only" had 3 Hagerty tow calls! You have to get on their email list and then they send you the info ahead of time to register. They only allow a certain number of cars and are primarily located in the North Bay, so it may be too far for some of us, but I think it would be pretty cool to do one of these. Depending on timing and route, I may try to do the one in June.

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the beautiful spring weather.

This Sunday is the monthly SFOB classic car meetup at the Ocean Beach parking lot at Great Highway and Lincoln in SF. It's an early start at 7am and goes until about 10:30 - 11.

If you are reading this and interested, it is a free event with a huge variety of classic cars and is different every month. Last month, we had 7 Corvairs show up. Would LOVE to see 10 or more this Sun on the beach!

A couple of other events of note:

~4 Fools Winery car meetup on the Rodeo Waterfront on April 25th. This is right down the street from my house so there will be at least one Corvair there. Mine! There will also be live music, a food truck and wine tasting. The kid that puts this event on loves Corvairs and it would be cool to get a few out.

~May 8th is the Alameda East Bay Swap Meet. This is always an interesting event. Free, Free, Free! Lots of vendors. A great opportunity to show a little club pride, show off a Corvair and get some photos of our cars with the San Francisco skyline as a backdrop. Located on the old Navy base at the Alameda Air Museum between the Hornet and the Hangar Vodka building.

All of these events are on our calendar on www.sfbacorsa.org. I update this calendar when I hear of an event, so check in often.

Know of an event that you will be attending that isn't listed? Want to host a meetup? Send me a message and we will send out the word!
