To: Chapter Officers:
Here is an update. On or about October 5, CORSA's I/T consultant copied 31 chapter website folders from our in-house server to the new cloud-based server. Since then, Jeannette and I have been working to create log-in credentials for the affected webmasters so they can access and manage the files in those folders.
Yesterday (Saturday October 15), I sent log-in credentials and instructions to each of the chapter webmasters who have websites hosted on the new cloud-based server. That information will enable them to manage the files comprising their respective websites. In other words, with they now have the ability to upload, download and delete their files on the new cloud-based server, just like they had on the old in-house server.
In my email below, I should have pointed out that many chapter websites are not hosted by CORSA. Many are now on other hosting services such as SquareSpace, GoDaddy, Weebly, etc. In many cases, those chapters have remnants of previous websites left over on the in-house CORSA server, before they moved over to another hosting service. In those cases, we did not transfer those remnants over to new cloud-based server. We only transferred those that hosted on our own in-house server that are current and functional.
In total, we transferred 31 out of 83 chapter websites over from the old server to the new one. As far as the public is concerned, the change is transparent. In other words, your members and the public will still visit the websites using the same URLs (website addresses) as before. You do NOT need to make any announcements or have any concerns as far as your members or the public are concerned.
Also, although we copied 31 websites over, all 83 remain intact on the in-house server. We are leaving them there in case any of you have a need to access the files hosted there. Although they are no longer accessible to the public, those files are the property of your chapter and so we have no intention of deleting them.

Subject: <CORSA Chapters> CORSA Chapter Website Notification
To: Chapter Officers & Webmasters:
The Corvair Society of America recently transferred its main website from its in-house server to a commercial server with cloud backup. The purpose is to make our electronic records more secure.
The next phase of our project is to move chapter websites over to that same cloud-based server.
Your chapter has a website on CORSA’s in-house server. The move has begun but is not yet finished. The process is likely to take some time; maybe a week or so.
In the meantime, please refrain from updating your chapter website. Any updates you make on the in-house server will not show up.
