Hi Everybody,
This email goes out to members and friends of Lehigh Valley Corvair Club.  Attached is our February newsletter.
Please note that our next meeting will be on February 11 instead of February 18.  It's coming up fast!
Also, please note that we're contemplating a change in our dues structure.  The newsletter explains it all, but to make a long story short, we're losing money by printing and mailing out newsletters via U.S. Postal.  Although we abandoned this practice for new members some time ago, we continue to send hardcopies in the mail for fifteen long-time members who we've "grandfathered-in".  
However, between the cost of photocopies @ $1.70 per copy and US Postage @ $0.60 per stamp, it's costing us $2.30 per copy to continue this practice.  That works out to $27.60 per year to send out hardcopies via U.S. Postal to those members who still get their newsletters that way.  ( $1.70 printing + $.60 postage ) x 12 issues per year = $27.60 per person per year.
That's way, way more than the $10 dues rate we've been charging to CORSA members and certainly more than the $15 rate we charge to non-CORSA members.  We've been making up for the shortfall by withdrawing the overage from our checking account, but that cannot last.  And none of this accounts for inflation.  We know for certain that the price of a first-class stamp is going up to $0.63 this year.  It would be nice if we had a sponsor to cover these costs, but I don't see that coming.
One of the proposals - and the most simple - is to simply abandon the practice of sending hardcopy newsletters via U.S. Postal altogether.  It's feasible.  At last count, we have only four members who have not registered their email address with us.  We also know of at least one member whose email account is expired.
So, please think this over.  Ultimately, it's up to your club officers to make a decision, but we'd like to hear your comments.
