Hello Brian,
It was pointed out to me last night by John Teixeira at our Monthly Club Meeting that the next NECC Meeting is the same day as our BSCC Holiday Party. We set the date with Raffael's back in April. Because we have members that attend from 5 of the 6 NE states we've moved the time from an evening affair to 1 - 5 to make it easier on everyone. We have a about a 45 minute gathering time before being seated for a Luncheon Buffet followed by music, dancing, there's a cash bar, lots of door prizes and other surprises followed by our presentation of the "2010 Member of the Year" award. The Guignards and the Cox couples from the NH group usually attend, as well as all the BSCC NECC Reps.
I'm sorry but we'll be unable to attend on the 14th. January is a tough month as all 3 NE CORSA Chapters hold their Annual Holiday Parties. Before you select another date, (or not), you may want to see what dates Ron @ CT CORSA or Wayne Cox from Central NH have set for their Holiday Parties. I'm not sure, but I believe Ron's was a Brunch gathering which is usually held on a Sunday. I attended that one last year. ( I hold membership in all 3 clubs.) So if he's on a Sunday then that Saturday should be an open date.
I hate sending out bad news in the AM. I'll leave you on an upnote. At our last monthly meeting of 2011 last evening we lined up a guest speaker, Mr. Pete Fiore, (no relation to Tony), who worked as a design engineer at GM in Detroit. One of his projects was working on the Corvair at their test ground facility. He worked for 3 weeks with the Corvair in a "Cold Room" testing it in extreme weather. We had 35 folks at this meeting and he spoke for about an hour holding everyone's attention. He closed with what the Corvair 'Might Have Been' as he was working on the prototype next generation Corvair motor. We know it started at 145 cid then grew to 164 cid where it remained through 1969 with a Turbo going to 180 HP. Pete's motor was 176 cid but would generate 250 HP! He said this was normally aspirated too, no turbo involved. Cool stuff. He was privy to stories that never reached the general public.
I thought the last Convention Meeting was a 'Home Run'. Very productive. Harry & Larry seemed please with where we stood at this time. It's all coming together and I can see areas that need attention and others that may only need a little tweaking. I pushed Ken's call for Concours Judges and recruited 4 last night. I'll get those names off to Ken today. That's about it from here in Milford, MA.
We'll talk later. Ray
