CORSA 2012: Things we need to do #3

Hi Everybody.  here's the third in the "TWNTD" series.
1. Let me know who is coming to the Feb 18th meeting in CT.  So far, I've only heard from Ray B.  and John & Ginny.  We need a pizza count!
2.  Need to finalize the schedule.  I'm receving pressure from Corsa to submit it for publication. I will send out the final draft early next week.  Please review it and send me comments.  Please, please, please do not release it to anyone not on the convention task force.
3.  We need to beat the bushes for tech sessions.So far the only one we have is the car detailing as coordianted by the Bay State guys. If you or some one in your club could put on a tech session let me know  Possible topics are head deflashing, brake installtion or carb rebuild.
4.  The trophy situation needs to be finalized.  Our plan right now is as follows
a. Unless other wise noted by specific event; we will use wooden plaques as the base for most awards.  First place awards will use wooden plaques that are larger than those used for 2nd and so n awrds. 
b. Valve Cover Races--we will use powder coated valve covers with stick on small plaques.  My orginal idea was to also use a dash plaque but Vair valve covers have that raised area and our dash plaque which is portrait oriented will not fit.  The Corvair Ranch is doanting 15 valve covers--probably more than we need--and I have a local guy who is donating the powder coating.  Peter, looks like th evalve covers will need two or thtee small stick on plaques. As per CORSA policy all awrds must contain the following information:  "CORSA International Convention", and the location and date.  In additon, the valve covers need to indicate that they are awrds for the vave cover races and the positon of the entrant; i.e. 1st, 2nd or more.  (See the below CORSA Trophy Policy for the requirements based on number of entries.)
c.  Car Display--A decsion needs to be made soon about our plan.  We have discussed humorous awards; standard first, second, third awards;and things like People's Choice, "The Car I want to Drive to my High School Reunion" and other public particaption awards. (Bill Cohen--you and I need to meet soon to discuss.)  If we use the humorous awards, Bill Cohen is responsible with help from Tim Schwartz to get them amde.  If we use standard 1st, 2nd, etc then Peter is responsible to obtain the awards and small stick on plaques.  We will attach a dash plaque to all awrds except the valve cover ones.
d. Model Cars-- I would like to come up with a unique type of award for the Model Car judging but so far no brain flash.  If we can't come up with an ideas such as the valve covers then we need to use the standard wooden palque. If we end up using the stand ones then the requirements above msut be used regarding information.  Peter is responsible for the standard ones but if we have a great idea about t=unique ones then Tim Schwartz get the job.
e. Concours- The Cocours awards are different.  A Gold, Silver and Bronze scheme is used.  Our requirement is to provide the wooden plaques (sized as above) the dash plaques, stick on plaqueswith the information as above and a separate plaque indicating the color of awards.  this small plaque needs to contain the winner's name and score.Peter needs to coordinate closely with Ken Shiftner to get the information.  Ken has found an engraving shop that will do the name, etc stuff immediately as we supply it.
f. Rally--Again we will use the standard wooden plaque system as described above.  Bob Scheidel is responsible for providing the results to both Ken Shiftner and Peter.  Ken will get the indivual name plates made at th elocal shop.  Peter will provide the wooden plaques, dash plaques (provided to him)  and the small plaque giving the entrant position.
g. Autocross--Again the standard wooden plaques as above.  Also need the winners' names and times. Autocross bunch--Ray Z., Ken K. and John E. are responsible for getting results to Peter and Ken Shiftner. 
 I know this maybe a little confusing.  If anyone is unsure of the plan call me so we can go over it.  We will review this at the Feb 18th meeting.
 4. Cindy Hughes has volunteered to solicit goodies for the registration packets and also (I hope) door prizes.  She is looking for any and all leads.  Please contact here through the group list with any inforamtion you might have.
5.  Other news--Stafford Springs is locked up as the site of our autocross.  Great strides made in getting entertainment for the convnetion.  A DJ at the clam bake and Kareoke outside the Hospitality Room Wednesday evening.  Also have a four member folk group for the Ice Cream social.  I'll being the their demo CD to the meeting if someone will volunteer to bring a TV and DVD player.
6. New Guy-- Rob Workman of NJACE is now on board as the outdoor vendor honcho.
7.  Games for Friday.--We have a whole bunch of ideas for activities for Friday.  Locked in are the back seat driver contest, the slow drags and the teeter totter.  Other potential games are creeper races,fan belt toss and cylinder barrel skee ball.  We despartely need volunteers to run some of these games.  We are also in great need of an overall games guy.  Don't be shy.  (John Ryall--you talked to me about go-cart race.  I need details ASAP.)
