Brian:
We need to have the Concours set up close to what I suggested or it won't work.
I have labored to coordinate this with the key people involved and I have at least acceptance.
We could possibly list the Friday AM Classification but at the Participant's meeting we'll discourage it. Larry Claypool does that part and we don't want to log jam the classification just before the Concours. We can do Unit 6 with three teams, anytime.
I don't understand the "Day Trippers" comment. If the "Day Trippers" arrive only on Friday, how will they be able to attend the Participant's Meeting on Wednesday? That meeting is where we get it organized. The Day Trippers won't have packets, scoring sheets or be in the computer....when will they register? If they pre-register for just the day, we'll know and have them on the list for the Classification Friday AM. They can't just arrive at 8:00 or 8:30 AM and join the Concours. There is planning that is required.
Just because Classification starts at 1:00 PM on Thursday doesn't mean the people have to line up at 1:00 PM. The early start was set up for the folks NOT in the Rally. At the Concours Participants Meeting the folks will be told to show up rested after the Rally. We'll be there for Unit 6...have fun. Those who don't go on the Rally can go through Classifcation at their leisure on Thursday then partake of other events....for the Concours judges, these folks have then been helped, reducing the remaining.
We do expect a surge of vehicles after the Rally. Some of the judges themselves will be in the Rally. We do expect some "hardship' cases as well (mechanical or otherwise). For those folks we can do added Classification Friday AM.
We don't have to mention the Placement on the Concours Field but I intend to mention that in an article cleared through Al Lacki to appear in the Communique. This will give the participants advance notice that we expect them to park the vehicles on the Concours field Thursday and leave them there. It is another method of getting them to stay for the Clam Bake that will be held thereafter.
You asked me to be Concours Chairman and that is the way I want it.

If Larry Claypool hasn't returned from the Rally and we need to Classify a vehicle that arrived early, we'll place a marker sheet on that vehicle for Larry to classify. No big deal. The shuffling of vehicles will be on Thursday...we'll have time.

If we offered Classification Friday AM I'm afraid too many folks will wait thus delaying the Concours start. The early Classification is only for the stragglers or hardship cases and we'll verbally offer that at the Participants meeting.
