                                            CORSA/NC Quarterly Meeting

On Sunday August 6th the Mountain Area Corvair Klub will host the CORSA/NC Quarterly Meeting.  It will be held at O'Charley's Restaurant at 2 Kenilworth Knoll just off of Tunnel Road in east Asheville, NC.  They offer a Sunday brunch plus a full menu at reasonable prices with a spacious back room that has been reserved just for CORSA/NC members.  Their full menu includes appetizers, signature salads & soups, sandwiches & burgers, butcher's cut steaks, create-your-own combo, fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs, seafood, chicken & pasta and last but certainly not least mouth watering desserts.  Would you prefer to have ooey gooey carmel pie, ultimate chocolate cake, key lime pie, carrot cake or caramel pie ice cream scoop?  You can't go home hungry!  All CORSA/NC members can arrive and start eating anytime after 10:30 am.    

 

Extra Treat:

As an extra treat, after the meeting we will caravan up to the top of shady and cool Beaucatcher Mountain to see the 100 year old Zealandia Castle with its breathtaking view of downtown Asheville.  This is right across Tunnel Road and only a 10 minute drive from O'Charley's Restaurant.  

 

Directions From East of Asheville:

Take I-40 west to I-240 west, exit 53B to downtown Asheville.  Go 2 miles on I-240 to second exit #7, US 70-Tunnel Road.  At the second stop light turn left to US 70 west.  Go straight thru the 1st light, get in the right lane, then at the next light turn right onto US 70 west-Tunnel Road.  Go to the second stop light and turn right onto Kenilworth Knoll.  Watch for O'Charley's large blue sign.  Go to the top of the hill and turn left into the parking lot.  

 

Directions From West or South of Asheville:

Take I-40 east or I-26 west (really North) to the junction with I-240 east to downtown.  Go past downtown and thru Beaucatcher Mountain Open Cut and take the next exit #6 Tunnel Road.  Turn left onto Tunnel Road (US 70 east) and then turn left at the next stoplight, (Kenilworth Knoll).  Go to the top of the hill and turn left into the parking lot.  

 

Camping Info:

For those of you that like to camp, come for the weekend and have a unique camping experience by staying at "Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground.  It is located at 15 Uphill Road, Swannanoa, NC 28778.  This is off Exit 59 on I-40.  Then go South ½ mile from the exit and you'll find your piece of paradise waiting for you.  It is only 6 miles east of Asheville.  You can relax in the beauty of majestic mountains and lazy winding creeks and enjoy the unaltered beauty of North Carolina.  Within minutes you can visit the special places that make Western NC the most beautiful place in the world. A few of these places include Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock, WNC Nature Center, Lake Lure, Folk Art Center, Mount Mitchell, and Grandfather Mountain.  The campground, in addition to being in a convenient location, offers full hook-up, 26 level pull-thru, 30/50 amp service, 7 remote tenting spaces, cable TV & Modem, lounge/ pavilion, private roomy showers, sparkling restrooms, secluded camping cabins, and propane filling stations.  What ever happened to "roughing it" when you went camping?
