Subject: Don Schneider

See info below about a terrible accident Don Schneider was in.

Wade

VVers - - It is with a heavy heart that I report that Don was involved in a
violent traffic accident last Saturday night in Central Ohio. His wife and
a
son-in-law were killed and Don has a broken neck His grandson was driving
when
he lost control on an icy road and they crashed into a large semi truck.
Many of you on VV know Don as the owner of the largest most pristine Corvair
collection in existence. He has since sold many of his cars through Clark's
cars for sale.
Don's interest in Corvairs goes back to the beginning of Corsa. He is the
most
decent, friendly, outgoing family man to those of you who know him. His
name
and address is listed in the membership roster for those of you wishing to
send
your condolences or email me and I will send it to you.
May we remember Don and his family in our prayers

Newspaper Report:

Two killed in Holmes crash - Weather said to be contributing factor; 5
others hurt, 3 critically
TRAIL – Two people were killed and five were injured – three critically – in
a two-vehicle accident on Rt. 515 north of Trail and southwest of Winesburg
Saturday night.

Holmes County sheriff deputies have identified the deceased as Larry L.
Kaufman, 42, of 5970 County Rd. 203, Millersburg, and Alice J. Schneider,
66, of 3250 Rt. 62, Dundee.

Sheriff Tim Zimmerly, in a news release, said Kaufman and Schneider, who
were passengers in a 2005 Volks-wagen Touareg sport utility vehicle, were
pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Robert Anthony, Holmes County coroner.

Investigators have determined that Dustin A. Kaufman, 18, of 5970 County Rd.
203, Millersburg, was driving the SUV carrying six passengers when the
accident occurred about an eighth of a mile north of Paint Township Rd. 414
at 7:46 p.m.

While going up a hill, according to Zimmerly, the SUV apparently lost
traction because of slippery road conditions and slid left of center into
the path of an unloaded semi tractor trailer log truck driven by David A.
Blake, 36, of 527 Bahler St. SW, Sugarcreek.

The SUV went under the left side of the semi trailer, hitting the trailer
frame ahead of the rear axles, then hit the rear axles and tore them loose
from the trailer frame.

After hitting the trailer, the SUV spun around and stopped along the east
side of Rt. 515. The semi went off the west side of the road into a ditch
and hit several trees before stopping.

Dustin Kaufman and two passengers, Derek L. Kaufman, 16, of the Millersburg
address and Donald Schneider, 74, of the Dundee address, were reported in
guarded condition Sunday night in the intensive care unit of Aultman
Hospital at Canton.

Two other passengers in the Kaufman vehicle, Dylan Kaufman, 13, and Kimberly
K. Kaufman, 39, both of the Millersburg address, were taken by Paint
Township Emergency Medical Squad to Pomerene Hospital at Millersburg where
they were treated for minor injuries.

Blake was not injured.

Zimmerly noted it was the first fatal accident in Holmes County this year.
Investigation is continuing.
