<DIV><FONT face=Georgia size=4>Hi Corvair Gang!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Georgia size=4> just wanted to thank
everyone that responded to my "64 Head" call. As you can see from the
article in this months newsletter I had everything but 64...... I received
several responses from several different sources and might add - not all
from NC folks, in the end I got two from Charlie West that I think will
work out real well, they are in the machine shop now getting checked
over ; valves & guides re-done. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Georgia size=4> I figure I will rebuilt
the original 64 FC engine later this year...when its cooler, much cooler;
yesterday it was 102 degrees in my shop.....you are right, I don't have
A/C, just a blower and all it does is pump in the air from
outside....whatever the temp is....and the temp has been hot ..hot..and
hotter. Anyway I picked this past week regardless of the temp
to install a 65 "RD" 110 HP engine mated up to a 3:55
axle and 65 4 Speed, got rid of that 3 speed as it was giving me problems
anyway and I hated I could not down shift while rolling....(1 st gear not
synchronized). yes - you are correct....it was hot!! I sweated a
lot! and drank a few gallons of water doing it... (I'm sure my water bill
will go up!!) .and probably lost about 10 pounds too!......(needed
that) ... .It was worth it...I took the Gbrier on its maiden
drive this morning (50+) miles, man!!... what a difference in
power and very smooth I might add.....also having the 4th gear makes a big
difference; not to mention being able to down shift...all the way to 1st
while rolling was a great improvement. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Georgia size=4> I plan to rebuild the
original 64 FC engine and put it back in later.......much later when it gets
cooler --unless this RD engine blows,, ,,,,never know whats going to happen
after they have been sitting and this engine has been idle for
awhile....several years!! I have encluded a couple of photo
attachments: Take care and stay cool. if you can.

<DIV><FONT face=Georgia size=4>oh.... almost forgot.......that "RD" engine
I had advertised in the news letter for sale....is not available now!!
want to guess why??</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Georgia size=4>cheers</FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
