for flat areas i think the 80 hp would take 355 ok. 389 will not get you much top end. how about a later powertrain or is a nice original? if its a nice original, i would take the engine apart and make it a late model inside using the oringinal block. i have done this several times. 164 cu in is soo much better! regards tim colson
