    Paul,
I think you will find more negative responses from those who have
tried "Green bearings" Lets hear the good and the bad.

One of our former members was using "Green" bearings on his '63 coupe and
his Rampside. He usually got 5-6,000 miles on them, sometimes a little less.
He knew what one sounded like when it was going bad, and would change it
immediately. You are apparently falling into this category.

Marlow was killed when his Rampside went off a steep mountain
grade into a deep canyon. A car following him stated the right rear wheel
came off and he lost control. Of course, there was much consternation in our
club over the accident. When the wreck was snaked out of the canyon, the
wheel was not found. A couple of us went searching for the errant wheel,
which we found about 1/2 mile downstream. What we found was a small nick in
the break that was conceivably the start of the crack. The nick was caused
by using a cutting torch to remove the old bearing.

Although this accident was not caused directly by the "Green"
bearing, the point I am making is that you should not expect the reliability
of the spherical bearing, and you should have someone who has the proper
pressing tools to remove and replace the bearing. This bearing and the axle
is critical in the operation and safety of the vehicle. It should not be a
case of economics.

Anyone of you are free to do what you want, you roll the dice and take your
chances.

          Bob
