If you join Corvanatics, copies of the trim and paint codes are available
super-cheap. See http://www.corvair.org/corvanatics/

Mike,

Welcome aboard! You might try looking at http://www.corvairkid.com for some
information on your FC. I think that he only has info on '62 and '64
models.

You might also like to contact Chevrolet (either e-mail or phone) and
request a Restoration or Hobby package. This is a free service from
Chevrolet. You need to supply them the vin# and from what I understand they
need to include both the Corvair and Full size truck information so that you
have a complete package you will have to ask for them.

You might also try your question in about three weeks again, as most folks
are taking off for the convention.

Subject: [FC] Decoding Trim Codes

Hello,

I recently purchased a 1961 Loadside(my first Corvair). I am in the process
of tearing it down to restore it. I have questions concerning the paint and
trim codes under the dash. The trim code is 431A and the paint code is
724A. I do not have any documentation to translate these numbers. I am
assuming that the truck is not a standard trim as I think I should see STD
in the trim space if that was the case. Also, there are visor holes for
both the driver and passenger which I believe is another clue.

I would appreciate any information on the codes.

Thanks,

Mike
