[FC] air dam

Hey all, on the groups recommendation, I purchased an early 80's GM air dam 
p/n 15569086. Has anyone actually installed one of these? If so, how? Did 
you remove the original mounting Flange? Any known facts, suggestions or 
WAGs on how to do this are welcome.
