There are a lot of things I will do for myself but the gas tank is a messy, smelly item to deal with. I took mine to a place where they sandblasted and re-lined. It was well worth it. You could do it yourself but I would advise you save the do-it-yourself stuff for something other than the gas tank. my two cents, Charles
