[FC] transmission trouble

Thanks those of you who offered ideas etc regarding my
transmission trouble. I'm still waiting for the mechanic
to fix it.

While my Corvan is off the road I've been able to devote
some time to resurrecting my beloved 69 Falcon. I had
not turned it over in about 5 or 6 years. I had the
presence of mind to shoot storage oil into the cylinders
after the first year when it became apparent that I
probably wouldn't be driving it again anytime soon. I
did not, however have the sense to put in a fuel
stabilizer.

So, last weekend I inspected the cylinders and they
apeared to be shiny and clean. With the plugs out I hand
turned the engine and it moved free and easy. I drained
the tank of old fuel and cleaned the plugs without even
checking the gap. This weekend I opened the carb and saw
the bowl clean and empty. I put new fuel in the tank,
some down the carb and hooked up a charged battery and
gave her a go. Fifteen minutes later she was purring
like a kitten! I didn't even have to adjust the timing
or the carb. That may come in time after I start driving
around but just idling she sounds great, smooth and
responsive.I love that straight six. One single carb,
200 cubic inches of reliable engineering. I'm keeping my
fingers crossed on the brakes and will test them
carefully.

I don't buy into the Ford vs Chevy thing. I've had
different cars and almost all because they were special
in some way.

regards,

Charles
