[FC] heat

it is fed that way from the factory..... the problem that you need to overcome
is to get heat that doesn't come off the bottom of the engine. The fresh are
lever opens a duct that comes off the top engine cover and is designed to
lessen the temperature of the heat that is brought into the heater box. If
you have a clean engine and use viton engine seals, make sure that you don't
have any broken parts in the exhaust system, then you have a properly
functioning Corvair hot air heater. If you are not inclined to do that
neccessary work to assure that the air that is going into the cabin is clean
and free of C02, then invest in a gas heater that eliminates all these
problems and gives you a complete new set of problems to deal with... Paul in

I have always thought it odd to have the heat/fresh air set up actually
suck
up air from the engine compartment. I have been thinking of ways to feed
outside air directly to the heater distribution box and the cooling fan...
  anyone tried this?
