Charles.  The way you describe will work, but.......... most tanks were 
galvanized or otherwise coated from the factory.  The chain will cut the 
coating and you will invite future rust and other problems. Especially if you 
have a show car that sits all winter, unless the tank is kept full, 
condensation will attack the tank.  What I have done is either use the chain 
and then get some tank coating from Clarks or whereever, or if you really 
want to do it right and permanent, take the tank to a radiator shop and have 
it boiled and sealed, you will never have another problem with it.  Bob Bauer
