Bryan,
Wow, I thought most of the FC guys would know about this one...
We all are familiar with the "pointed" outer end of our FC tail lights, and
that part of the lens is a prismatic type reflector (no light, just
reflect/bounce light outwards)... I remember reading a long time ago about taking a 194
bulb & socket and drilling a hole in that part of the light housing, and
allowing a light to be added. The 194 socket's housing is plastic (or rubber) and
the two wires are + & - , and you can ground the - to anywhere you want... tap
the other wire into your park light wire and there ya go.... the only problem
I'd ever heard was the 194 would/could build up heat, and possibly melt the
lens... now here come the LEDs... they give off zero heat compared to a typical
194, and last for years... I haven't checked out the clearence between the bulb
and the lens, but when I do, I'll let y'all know...
The LED 1157s were about $16.00 for the pair, but they have a 5 year
guarantee... even at that price, I like them. You will want to go to a 552 flasher,
since the original Corvair flasher will not read the load of the LED bulbs, and
not flash...
There ya go... any more questions, just drop me a line...
Later,
Lonzo
