i have cut the roof out of several vans over the years with muffler cutter 
chisel. i used to keep them for body repair panels. the issues you run into are 
the roof braces. try to leave them in.  if i was doing it to repair i would 
make a guide to keep a lip of about 2 inches. they make adhesives now days that 
would put one on for good out of a caulking tube. check with a good body man. 
i was just shown some stuff by a body shop teacher that would probably be 
perfect.  i will try to find out more but it wont be right away.. 
i have to ask why you want to replace it? is it way beyond repair? or just 
want to modify it?.   regards tim colson
