check the points...just run a piece of paper between the contacts or fine sandpaper. you can check with test lite. pos side of coil should stay lit...(ground one side of lite to good ground) other side should go out when points are closed. if it stays lit you have points not closing or dirty. this is what usually happens from sitting a long time..points corrode/oxidize. regards, tim colson
