[FC] camperizing a greenbrier...

Merv/Loretta-

Check out my FC website for camper info. www.geocities.com/bens_bus

I camperized (is that a word?) my Greenbrier over the course of several
years. I put on a TEC camper top. It is very unique and is all metal
(aluminum) and involves no canvas as most tops do. Several companies added
tops to Corvair vans in the sixties. TEC was a big one along with Traville,
Royden, Turtle Top, Sportsmobile, and several others. The Corvair Ranch has
a very rare Dormobile converted Greenbrier with a top that folds up sideways
(think clam shell) and provides 8 feet of headroom. I have also seen
several homemade versions.

Turlte Top is still in business as is Sportsmobile. I bet these would cost
a great deal new, but I see lots of vans with a large variety of camper tops
in junkyards. I have bought and sold three TEC tops since installing mine.
Interior ideas/components are also easy to find in junkyards. Several of
the camper vans have folding rear bench seats that can either face each
other, each face forward, or fold down into a bed. These provide lots of
flexibility...

Check out the website and write with any other questions. I have done lots
of research and might be able to help.

Thanks. Ben Stiles (Ben's Bus)
