[FC] Clutch Problem Still Not Solved in FC

I had that same problem with my Greenbrier after just replacing the clutch.
It turned out that someone else had put the late model fork pivot in it. I
don't know why it worked before I replaced the disk/pressure
plate/throughout bearing. I just put a couple of washers under the pivot
and it fixed it. I couldn't get the clutch to release enough to put it in
gear before the washers. I doubt that there is anything wrong with your
cable and the stock lever worked fine for many years so I wouldn't mess with
that either. I had mine in and out several times before I figured it out.
You can get to the pivot without removing the transmission if you have the
top covers off and slide the transaxle away from the engine far enough to
get your hand in there. Give me a call this afternoon if you want to talk
about it. I'll be home 1-4p & after 7p CST.

Subject: [FC] Clutch Problem Still Not Solved in FC

Hey everybody:

A few weeks ago I mentioned the clutch problems I am having with my 1963 FC
that I have just converted to a 4 speed from a Powerglide.

It has all of the correct 1963 clutch and flywheel parts including an NOS
throwout bearing to replace the shorter aftermaket one provided by one of
the vendors.

It still crunches going into the gears. It seems that I just can't get
enough pull at the clutch rod by the cable.

It has been suggested that the cable may be the problem or that lengthening
the pedal would solve the problem.

I am still stumped. I really need to get this thing moving soon because I
am planning to move soon.
