Not sure what marine cables cost but usually any marine item is more
expensive than other sources.  Summit Racing or Appletree Automotive (dune
buggy suppliers) online order web sites also carry these cables made by
Morse.  Just figure out the length you need and order to suit.

I am sure he used a 3300 by Teleflex.  It is the shift cable used on all
Merc Cruiser stern drives.  The 3300 specified threaded ends  (10/32 with
1.5 inches threaded.  The length is specified my the second set of numbers,
i.e 3300-16 is a 16 foot long cable (suitable for UltraVans.  Cables are
available from six ft to 40 feet in length.  Cables with bayonet ends and
snap ends ware also available.  WestMarine list them on their site.
