There are two springs on the accelerator linkage. A small light weight one
goes at the petal end of the cable under the truck. It goes from the
linkage where the cable attaches to the petal link, to the front body work
on a tab welded to inner front pan. It is there to keep tension on the
cable. The second spring goes from the downward facing link on the
carburetor cross-shaft to the a tab welded on the front engine shroud.

    I agree with this with one exception;

The front spring needs to be a bit on the heavy side and a light weight one
in the rear.
    You DO NOT want a heavy spring in the rear as that will put a tension on
the inner cable and will make it bind, even a new cable.
