Would the lens be easy enough to re-invent or replace with something more durable? Has anyone done something really inventive out there?

  Just FYI--this change was made in '64 so all three FC models that year had the new design. (Loadsides were discontinued after 1962.)

  The door is fiberglass, probably to keep tooling costs down since production volume was not very high at that point.

  Finding a door is not too hard, Merv. The harder part is finding the lens that sits above the license plate in a cutout on the top lip of the door. These get brittle due to engine heat, oil, UV, etc. and are often broken/gone.

  Hi folks!

  I was looking through my pics of the CORSA convention in Portland and started noticing how nicely the licence plate is recessed in the engine door panel on the 65s.

  Hmmm I says to myself.... I wonder if there are any spare doors kicking around out there to put on my 62?
