 Yes, there is a nylon gasket under the head of the drain plug. It is  very 
likely that it cracked or is to thin anymore to seal. If you have  someone hold 
thier finger in the dyke, (over the hole), while you peel the  old seal off 
and put the new one on, you will probably ony have to add a quart  of oil.
