Merv I have rebuilt 3 of these engines ( all 65's) and have not seen a top cover with hole in it. It sounds like you may have the top cover from either a very early motor or a very late one that somebody used instead of replacing the fan bearing when it went out Tim '61 Rampy ;-group red
