[FC] trim height

Greetings all:

I am in the final stages of trying to get the Greenbrier at a reasonable ride height in the front. I ordered and had installed the famous spring kit from a former midwest Corvair-only mechanic way back in June or July. The ride height was much reduced (as it was supposed to be), but my van bottomed out presumably due to the weight of my camper interior.

The first set was sent back (at my cost) to be exchanged for a special-special set with an extra coil left in to raise my truck up and avoid bottoming out. This is also after I lost considerable $$$ getting the van aligned. That was a waste. I also had to modify my garage door handles and other items on the door just to get the van in the garage after second modified set was installed. Seller's exact words from an e-mail..."If I cut it a little long, oops, sorry, just cut an inch off one end and all should be good."

As it sits now, the passenger side is 29.5" trim height and the driver's side is 28" trim height (level floor to bottom of front fender, center of wheel.) Tire pressures are the same. That's 1.5" difference side to side, FCers...

My very gracious local mechanic friend is willing to recut the springs to get the van level side to side and looking less nose up, the whole point of the conversion in the first place.

Can any of you give me a trim height or ride height for your Greenbrier? I guess a stock appearance would be OK since the conversion was lackluster to begin with, but a bit lower in the front would be good, too. I am looking for numbers so my friend can adjust it tomorrow and I can actually drive it again. We are thinking 27.5" trim height which we think will work to get it lower and also not bottom out.

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Ben Stiles
