Perhaps, also worth noting, for you folks that have an aversion to 
welding, there is a more complicated method of attaching steel to steel 
panels.  There are several specialty structural adhesive systems on the 
market for "gluing" -- similar to new car construction -- the issues are 
getting old metal clean enuf to use the adhesives.

And then there is the old standby, pop-rivets ...

Boy, can I dig myself in deep, given the opportunity.
