[FC] the most basic question

Greetings all:

I have an internally regulated alternator. I will, from the e-mails
received:

1) have the alternator brushes checked
2) check ground wire from/to battery
3) check all wire connectors to make sure all look good

The belt has been on there for a while...may change it even of it is not the
cause of the problem. Let me know if there is anything else I should be
looking for...

Thanks!

Ben

I doubt it is the belt slipping. More likely too much resistance on old
wiring connections - or something along those lines - something electrical.

PS - I also prefer the top cog belts and have never had a slippage problem -
even on very old ones.

I've got Clark's belts on all my vairs, with no-problems.
How old is the belt on it now? Or how many miles?
an aged belt may develop a glaze to it that could make it slip.

Folks:

What off-the-shelf fanbelt do you recommend for FC applications? I used to
get Dayco Top Cog 15560 or 15565. I have not seen these lately.

Reason...I get a flickering of the gen/fan light when driving, usually at
slow speeds. I have had all the electrical systems checked and all is well.
I feel the fan belt is slipping at times, but OK at others. This particular
belt is a Clark's belt, and I have never had this flickering indicator
light problem before in 14 years.

Thanks!

Ben
