Hello gang; This may miss the mark as far as following the same thread, but
today I discovered a battery that fits just right 'neath that cute little
cover in the rear of the bed. I had purchased aU53K-VHD battery from
Interstate Batteries near me the other week. When I got it installed all
the truck would do is click, click. I decided to charge up the battery,
thinking it may have sat too long on a shelf somewhere, but after a number
of charges followed by click, click I removed it and took it back. They
found it to be a defective battery and were going to order another
one...from Georgia, taking who knows how long. I measured a battery sitting
on the shelf finding it to be the right width and height to fit in the
space, a MT-51R. Not only does it fit in just fine, but it cost $37 less
than the defective one. Better yet, the Rampside started right up when I
turned the key. Steve> From: corvanatics-request at corvair.org> Subject:

Last night I tuned it up to spec, I had the timing retarded way too late;-
now with the proper advance it idles down nice and slow, I did have the
dwell right on, it turned out. Engine has good torque evcen running on 2
carbs so far. Next item was to take the air compressor and blow off all the
bondo dust inside and out to prep for primer, also I made the first atempt
to lower the ramp. (This ramp was in the bed of the truck when I bought it).
The ramp comes down to maybe 14 inches off the ground, just past parallell
to the ground. The bottom edge is binding against the frame underneath the
ramp. I will unbolt and figure out the problem tonight. Sticky wicket.> Tim
