i used a 3m urethane glue that  dealers use to hold glass in  
channels...several years ago. it is still in good shape after a lot of heavy  use.  in my 
case , i waited until they did a job , and took the leftover  tube home. 
sometimes you can work something out at your local body shop , they  use it to 
glue panels on all the time now. shelf life after tube is opened is  VERY 
short.  do not get it on your fingers .
