18,000ish '61 vans (how many 8 doors? - relatively FEW I imagine) VS
6,000ish '64 vans. I'd be tempted to keep both and find the needed parts
for the '61 - say from Phoenix Charley or another vendor.

I need the opinions from the group.
I have a 1961 Greenbrier 8 door deluxe. I bought it in California in 1994.
While on the way home I was caught in a tornado in Nebraska. It caused
damage to the transmission and the shift rod(we highsided the van on the
dolly). It broke the input shaft and bent the rod in half.I bought a 1964
van and now have all the makings of a shifter change. I have eyeballed the
change and wonder if going late model is better than repairing the old 61 4
speed shifter? The van is a fully optioned 73,000 mile black plate
California van. To valuable to modify? Will I ruin a good van?
