[FC] Wheel back Space

The rears aren't very critical but the fronts will have trouble with tie rod clearance with anything but stock or a fairly large diameter wheel. 15x7" '82 up Z-28 wheels(Google says 4.5" backspacing) fit on the back but not the front. 16x8" IROC Z-28 wheels fit the back with some crossmember grinding and barely fit over the front tie rods with some grinding on the tie rod. I would measure the back spacing on a current wheel and then add the clearance to the tie rod and subtract at least 3/8" to get the maximum. You could go with 17" aftermarket wheels and they should clear the tie rods. Has anyone changed out the steering arms to get clearance with normal 15" wheels?

Subject: [FC] Wheel back Space

The wife's Rampy is going into the local body shop for a refresh. The wheels are not all official FC wheels and one that is is bent. What sort of back space should I look for on new wheels? GMooreLawson MO
