[FC] FC Shifter Brace

I've driven a couple of FC's with the brace (as indicated in the Clark's 
reference) on them, but never connected to anything, and the only place 
I've come across the "popping out of gear" feature is in the Clark's 
catalog, where they only "believe" they were used -- of course, they 
have the rubber bushing to connect the brace and crossmember for sale.

I suspect they were the brainchild of an overly cautious engineer, 
worried about the function of his "mystery shifter" feature.

If your brace is different than the one in Clark's, a picture would be 
appropriate for identification.

My initial thoughts, Back When, were that they were for some sort of 
skid plate mounting to protect the shift and throttle linkage at the 
transmission, but, if they were important, why didn't the cars have them?
