[FC] Tire Safety

Ah, But look at what was done to the vehicle to un-bias the traction of the vehicle. Studded snows on the front and what was on the rear? Half wore out street tires? Guess what? Any car will spin when you do something like that and then put an inexperienced driver behind the wheel. Good comparable tires should have been installed on the rear also. Even then inexperience will still prevail.

I disagree. My daughter needed tires on her 96 Prism (was getting stuck often) and the local (excellent) mechanic recommended studded snow tires for the front . I seldom disagree with him but I did this time. Sure enough Sara lost control on a slippery road, the rear end completely lost traction (great traction on the front) and she slid off the road rear end first into a highway sign (she paid for the sign!). Lesson learned.

On front wheel drive cars I think the good tires should be on the rear. It is better to get stuck a few times than to slide off the road. I guess you can blame my daughter for her lack of driving skills, but I think the tire situation contributed to her accident.
