[FC] Problem after installing High Volume Blower Motor

Andy,  armed with your part number I'm going to head off to the Shack to pick up a diode.
 
What is the possibility that a smaller (that you radiator fan) but better quality 30 or 40A relay would be equipped with a built in diode?   That sure would make it easy to fix.  How about the factory 65-76 GM air conditioned car setup?  Did the metal cased, rectangular blower fan relay have a built in diode?  Or was that incorperated into the wiring harness?
