[FC] 140HP aircleaners for FC?

It's been many years and I may be more sensitive/picky than most but I believe that the stock early air cleaners are too restrictive on a stock early engine let alone a 140.
I swapped a late air cleaner on to an early and it ran noticeably better. If I remember correctly it was a 102 and it seemed to pull harder and rev more freely. Has anyone done any dyno tests on various air cleaners?

This type of set up has been done many times on FC's and wagons. Neither vehicle is a speed demon nor do people generally run them to their potential so the air flow, while important, isn't a big issue here.

Tim,

It's worth asking the question about air flow in this setup. You have a
potential counterflow because of the firing order that you would not experience
with the stock 140 setup. It would be interesting if anyone has tested this to
see what effect it might have and at what RPM. It may not matter much, just
asking.

That project used 110hp tubes cut , and bent to weld on stock tops , which "kind
of works" ,but I may just do a cut up version of 4 covers. This project is
harder than it looks to make look decent.
I was looking for a real crafty different way , but no rush yet. Had an idea
from street rodder guy this afternoon that is radical , but may just work. I
will report on my progress later. Back burner for now.
Thanks for the input .
Regards , Tim Colson
