Since it already leaks it probably does not matter if you use pliers for
removal.  But, be DANG sure to use the right tool for the install!  The one
specifically designed for this job.  It does not look like a "regular"
socket.

I usually just bend the L connector on the part down a bit if gets in the
way of the extension for the socket.  And you really don't have to fully
insert the extension into the socket.  You don't need to be a HE-MAN for
this job.  Oh, don't use Teflon tape - or only very little.  The switch has
to ground to complete the electrical circuit - and you don't want Teflon in
you oil passages anyway.
