For a solid FC that still has her original engine, I agree that rebuilding it is a good idea.  First, although a car engine can be made to work, yours has the details that Chevy put in to make it really 'fit' the FC purpose.  Second, the "good running engine" that was so common in years past is becoming increasingly hard to find.  Although it is a fair amount of money, I really think a quality rebuild is in your best interests.
