Okay, here's the latest on my '65 Corsa 140 'vert:
On Sunday I installed the refinished gas tank and new hoses, poured in some
gas, and fired it up. It started, but was idling at something like
2500 RPM. Since it was nearing midday becomming far too hot to continue, I packed it in.
I think the too-fast idle is a result of having slightly bent the throttle shaft on one
of the primaries while rebuilding it. It seems to open and close without a
hitch when I manipulate it by hand; nevertheless, I think it would behoove me to take the time to replace the entire carb bottom. It also seems as though the secondaries will open only when the pedal is at the floor -- that can't be right.
Also: any advice on how to single-handedly reinstall the front stabilizer bar? That's not going in without a fight.
I expect to resume work on Saturday morning. Let me know if you want to help out -- recall that the car is at Darrin's. This could be it -- I mean, it could be fully drivable this Saturday. You could be a part of history!
What remains to be done: 1) carb adjustment; 2) valve tweaking; 3) front stabilizer reinstall. Admittedly, I'm totally green when it comes to 140 carb synching.
