I agree with Greg about how to remove the gasoline tank pickup and
sending unit.  I removed a few and had not needed the special tool.  Soak
the outer ring with penetrating oil for a day or two and, if you have
one, use a brass punch on the ears and tap with a hammer.

Leaky oil sending units are fairly common. They usually leak where the
metal is crimped to the plastic.  I carry a spare in my car (no comments
Bryan).

If I remember, you said the distributor was frozen.  The next time you
have the engine running and fully warmed up would be a good time to try
to rotate it.  I would mark it first so that I could return it to its
original position until you are ready to set the timing.

Regarding the original tires, they would only be good for static display.
 I wonder if new, original looking tires may not be available from
specialty tires makers.  I don't think they have any value to other
Corvair owners.
