[NoVa-Corvairs] Convertible top installation

Has anyone here installed a convertible top?  Is this something I would ever want to tackle?  

The Corvair Ranch quoted me a price of $950 installed, though they didn't give me any details.  Clark's "Ultimate" convertible top kit (which also includes the rear "well") is about $360, and the labor rate at London Motors on Lee Hwy is $61.50 -- assuming 7 hours, that's a labor rate of 430.50, or $790.50 tot.

Maybe I can find a shop in the Virginia hinterlands with a lower labor rate?

Also, is the gas mileage of a car that doesn't run equal to zero or infinity?
