Gents,
I can bring the tools to test compression and balance the carbs
(Uni-Syn).
See you tomorrow.

RE: [NoVa-Corvairs] This Saturday's Meeting
Curt,
Thanks for bringing those items. Does anyone have a compression meter?
I'd love to know what I'm working with in that regard. How about a carb
balancer? Is that a common tune-up item?
A few months ago when my car was stalling, Darrin and I replaced my carb
filter stones and added an in-line fuel filter.
Then I realized the stalling problem was due to a clogged filter "sock"
in the gas tank. So I opened the gas tank and replaced it. Maybe that
procedure kicked up some debris. I have a new pair of filter stones if
we need them.
My battery is fully charged and out of the car right now.
I hope the weather cooperates on Saturday morning. I can't do anything
about the cold but I will set up a shelter (tent like structure) over
the back half of the car if it rains. Unfortunately I don't have a
garage.

Mike:
I can bring an electrical meter which can measure such as ohms and
voltage. I will also bring a timing light. Since your car sat so long
it is possible that you have enough residual debris in the gas line that
the carb filters should be replaced.
Before the meeting make sure your battery is fully charged and
disconnect
the positive battery cable (probably you have already done this). Then
following up on Howard's suggestion we can start disconnecting
electrical
systems such as the generator/voltage regulator and try to trace down
where the short is.
Curt
